I just didn't have enough at one time to make it feasible to dig in the grounds directly, so I simply added grounds to the compost pile from the morning pot. Starbucks can change that - in a limited way, anyway. They bag up their used grounds for gardeners. How nice!
"Starbucks stores give away free coffee grounds to customers to use as garden fertilizer... Coffee grounds are considered a good nitrogen source and when combined with brown material such as leaves or straw, they generate heat and speed up the compost process. This helps absorb moisture and can improve the texture and fertility of the soil." ~ Daily Southtown
Especially good for acid-loving plants . Find out more about coffee grounds fertilizing properties and composting power on the Starbucks site . Stores offer the used grounds on a first-come, first-served basis.
